Hopefully this game wont change the Prof's mind to much!!Aliadiere needs to be sold, even though i love the way he struts onto a pitch like he is gods gift will never be good enough to hold down or compete for a regular spot at AFC, fair enough this was a performance worthy of an below par Titi but I would rather have the potential of Benther in the sqaud then the constantly average Aliadiere!!

Freddie was the same just out on the left cutting in rather than from deep centrally running on. There is always a place for a deep lying player breaking into the box to knock the ball into the net. Baptista seems to have almost perfect timing for this, just like freddie has/had ! A very useful player to have. And Baptista can score with headers , something we dont do enuff of

I would add a note of caution, too, in that first team players in the starting line up typically don't really show up for the Carling Cup. Fowler looked up for it, but Gerrard, Hyppia, even Alonso didn't really have that mental edge to their game in the first half especially. Dudek certainly looked off the pace (mentally that is). SO the fired up young guns would have that advantage.

Also, there is this point made by arsenal-mania about Baptista which deserves a wider audience:

"Finally, Baptista is a striker. His penalty was badly taken but he betrayed his very obvious striker characteristics throughout the game and should be used as such.

Baptista's touch in crowded areas is poor but he can finish and knows where to run when he believes his team mates are looking for him. I have to repeat that, Baptista is good when he knows the team is looking for him to be there to score.

That's what he had at Seville when he was at his best. He knew the team was looking to find him to score so he put himself in scoring positions with purpose. If Baptista is to succeed at Arsenal, he needs to feel that again."

I'd suggest thought that the Beast is only going to get this late in a match when we are chasing a game. Otherwise, he's got to fit into the overall scheme of the team's sophisticated passing game, not just get on the end of it. And TH14 might have something to say about that. But there may be other ways he can fit in, only the adjustment may take longer.

Good point, but if anyone can control a team with confidence it's Arsene Wenger. Look what happened with the 49 game unbeaten run!

I hope Arsenal don't get carrieaway. Sterner test await when Bburn and MU

play the gunners. Idon't think MH will give Arsenal time and space and for

allyou know he may put two lines of defenders similar to the game plan of

the walrus.

But there are encouraging signs. First the gunners don't wait for anr eternity bf shooting .

If Ronaldinho scored that freekick everyone would be raving about it - the way Baptista got the ball up and down was phenomenal! And he deserved his goals for his supporting runs all night long. All players take time to settle in England and he obviously had fitness problems coming from Real Madrid but it seems he's starting to enjoy life at Arsenal!

Alumia did well yesterday but I'm yet to be convinced whether or he's good enough to take over from Lehmann. At least he's better than Liverpool's reserve Dudek or Chelsea's reserve Cudicini!

I thought Song got a goal but I'm not sure if he's good enough for Arsenal, but he did look better last night than in previous games though.

And where was Theo??

great performance the beast looked like the player we saw at sevilla.

difficult one for wenger. baptista looked great working with a pacy striker like
henry or aliadiers. where do adebayor and van persie fit in.

exciting times ahead. if the rumours are true not sure we should be letting lauren go. the right back spot looks the only weak position in the team
