I'm glad Fabregas didn't pass the ball to Walcott for the second goal - he couldn't connect properly with anything yesterday!

I think you were a bit harsh on Walcott. If it hadn't been for him luring Vidic completely out of the picture for the 2nd, Nasri couldn't have scored. I would switch the Denilson and Walcott scores

i dun think we will win the PL this year. the win against manure was fantastic, but it reminded me of the win against manure 2 seasons ago where adebayor scored in the 80+ minute to sink manure at old trafford. that season we did well against the top 4 sides but we struggled badly against the likes of Aston villa, middlesbrough and we ended up in the 4th place.
---
i am not saying our players are not good enough to win the PL. in fact, i would like to think that they have enough quality to thrash manure, chelsea and liverpool when they are fired up. however, we still need to buy in january, just to increase the number. some of the positions like LB, CB, DM, CM are clearly lacking competition and players like clichy, gallas, denilson, fabregas get a little bit too comfortable in the team. they know they are irreplaceable and then complacency creeps in and ruin our season over and over again.
---
i am not sure what you guys think but personally, clichy has been quite poor this season. he was solid last season but i haven't seen a very convincing performance from him this term. he did badly in 2006/07 and everyone was calling for the signature of abidal so he was very determined to prove himself in 07/08. well, as we all know, he successfully proved himself and even won a place in Team of the Year and now, he knows he has made the LB position his own so he is beginning to feel a little bit too comfortable. gallas showed us against manure that why wenger has so much trust in him. he showed us that he is actually very good in the air. his performance was first class last night and for a split second, i thought he was a 28 years old sol campbell. but he is not performing consistently enough, why? because he knows he will a lways play no matter what. then there's denilson too. if he had the likes of diarra, gilberto competing for the same position, he would probably be performing at the same level as last night week in week out. same goes to fabregas, and perhaps even van persie.
---
i knew we would win last night. but if we hadn't dropped points against spurs, hadn't lost to stoke and hadn't drew against fenerbache, i can guarantee the result last night would have been very very different. when they are in the mood, when they know what is at stake, when they know they can't afford to lose anymore, they can thrash anyone. but once they know they are back in title contention, they are no longer under pressure and the spirit will die down again and after that you'll see some lack lustre performance again.
---
i really hope wenger will sign a number of players in january. that way we will put some pressure on the starting 11 to perform on a consistent basis. chelsea players are no better than ours, but they are a lot more consistent than us, why? the pressure, the fear, which our players are clearly lacking.

Shaun's right! You don't blindly say we beaat ManU so we are great. We need more spine, we need a strong expereinced DM. We were lucky today because if Manure had thier shooting boots on we would have fucking lost. Did you see our counter attacks? The Arsenal of old would get it up the field in three passes, we've lost that crispness about us. Don't get carried away, we still need January to come around.

I think Shaun has a point. Winning one game does not make Arsenal Champions. It is about playing at the same level week in and week out. And this team is not consistent enough. Wenger has to buy experience in key areas.

Denilson was excellent today.

The number of Cesc's passes that went to ManUre was probably in double figures. The guy is wonderful but he was not running the show today.

Wenger was 100% right to replace Diaby. Just before the substitution, the ball was played out to Diaby and he just didn't have the legs to run and collect it. He was on his knees by that time and Wenger would have been negligent to leave him on.

Shaun is a big, fat, hairy cunt.

I think you've tried to avoid the media too much. We already knew Adebayor was injured long before the match and Van Persie's suspended for 3 games (well 2 now). Also I thought Denilson was better than Fabregas. Let's hope we can keep at it until we start getting Eduardo, Van Persie, Adebayor and even Rosicky (someday we hope), then we'll really be ready to make a title challenge towards the final half of the season.

Agree with most of this post, but just a couple of points:

1. I think Walcott played better than you suggest. His run for the second goal was crucial - brilliantly timed, he dragged Vidic out of position and gave Nasri room to drill the shot in.

2. Wenger is still making mistakes with his substitutions. Taking off Walcott - who was a worry for ManU defenders throughout the game - and replacing him with Song was the same negative mistake that he made against Tottenham. And we nearly paid for it. Yes, Song made a couple of decent tackles BUT he made a criminal mistake which led to the United goal. Pinned down near his own left flank he swivelled and hit a blind pass infield - crazy schoolboy stuff; that pass (or even better under the circumstances, hoof) should have gone straight up the touchline and away from danger.

3. I think Denilson is genuinely good. Yes he does have some weaker games, but we need to cut him a little slack, at least for a while. The guy is still getting used to playing REGULARLY in the PL&CL, and the consistent intensity of that is hard to adapt to. From where I'm sitting he tends to play 2 or 3 decent games on the tro and then have a flat one. I think he can make it though.

Again Denilson's underevaluated. He had a cracking game today, doing a man's job a bit behind Fabregas. I would give him somewhere between 8 and 9 for effort, techincs and workrate.
