With Isco spurning Manchester City and completing his move from Malaga to Real Madrid, and Carlos Tevez moving to Italy with Juventus, then it appears the transfer merry-go-round has started to take off.

Manchester United have just had a £12 million bid rejected for Leighton Baines, in what will be the start of bidding and negotiations. Baines is a person who will not move away from the North West, so Old Trafford seems his most likely destination. £12 million is just a starter bid and I expect both teams to agree on somewhere in the region of £18 million. Hopefully, once Baines leaves that will give us a better chance of getting Fellaini, if that deal was ever going to happen.

Mancheste City have already confirmed the signings of Jesus Navas and Fernandinho, but the most interesting Brazilian signing for me is the £17 million purchase of Paulinho to Tottenham. From what I’ve seen, Fernandinho is a really good player but overall, Paulinho is the more accomplished and complete footballer, and Manchester City bought the wrong man. Unfortunately, this means Tottenham have him and that’s bad news for us.

Tottenham have signalled their intentions and are strengthening appropriately. We continue to be linked with the likes of Higuain, Rooney (well, not anymore) and Fellaini but haven’t brought in a single player yet.

If the Higuain deal doesn’t materialise next week, then surely it never will. It’s been 5 weeks since we’ve been linked and despite his dog confirming a “deal is close” we’re none the wiser. With Isco joining Real, Tevez going to Juventus and Ancelotti being appointed Real manager, surely things will be advancing much quicker now.

As the Carlos Tevez move to Juventus got me excited about Higuain and perceived increase in chances of him joining Arsenal (and my subsequent post), the first comment from the man know as “Dave” brought me down to earth.

It didn’t even occur to me for a second that Manchester City could be in the running for Higuain now. One thing we don’t need is a club like City flashing their millions around. Cash is king in football and if they offered the Argentine striker £250,000 a week, could he seriously turn it down?

We of course could promise more regular football but is that enough? We’ve already seen Clichy, Nasri, Adebayor and Toure tempted away by the lure of money from City and they would just love it if they trumped us yet again.

And of course, we cannot forget the Pellegrini factor. He has managed in Spain before, and more importantly managed Gonzalo Higuain at Real Madrid. So he has previous and knows the player well. And even worse, in Higuain’s 7 year spell at Real Madrid (and countless managers in that time), guess who was in charge in his most productive season? You guessed it, Pellegrini.

In the 2009-2010 season, Higuain scored 29 goals in all competitions. The closest to that was in the 2011-2012 season, when Real were managed by Jose Mourinho and he notched up 26 goals.

If newspapers and websites are putting two and two together, then so can we. And unlike most of the rumours and hearsay, then this one could have a bit of substance.

This must be one of the most protracted transfer sagas that ever was, well it seems like it anyway.

My first post regarding the Higuain rumours was on May 24th, and considering the fact that I am extremely slow, then by my reckoning the possibility of Gonzalo joining Arsenal has been floating around for over 4 weeks now.

So that’s over 31 days of wondering if the Argentine sharp-shooter will be arriving at The Emirates.

It’s got to the stage now where if he joins, it would just be a massive relief that all the rumours were true and we’ve managed to bring in a world-class striker to the club, who will improve our squad no end.

And then you have the unthinkable alternative. What if, by some cruel twist of fate, he doesn’t come to us and the deal falls through or even worse, we lose out to Juventus?

We all know that the only official confirmation will come from Arsenal.com and in some ways, I wish I never knew about all this. The waiting is what is killing Arsenal fans, even making some of them fight between themselves to as whether he is coming or not.

And how did these rumours start so early? Do certain journalists have top secret contacts on the inside? Did they just put 2 and 2 together and manage to get something right? Is this deal even happening or are Higuain’s representatives trying to play Juventus off against Arsenal, now we have a massive war chest? Did I leave the gas on in the kitchen?

These are all questions we desperately want to know the answer too and it looks like the answers will never come.

A few days ago, it was a signed, sealed and delivered and we had agreed a £22 million fee and £130,000 per week deal. Now his bloody Dad comes along as says we, along with Juventus have tabled sizeable bids and now it’s up to Real Madrid to decide. F*cking hell, why can’t things ever be straight forward?

Will Juventus offer a better deal? No-one knows. Does Higuain want to join Arsenal? Is it true Real Madrid are holding out for closer to £25 million? Will we lose out because we’re not decisive in the transfer market anymore?

I know one thing, I just can’t take this anymore!
