What’s Your Prediction For Arsenal v Manchester United?

Tomorrow sees two former heavyweights of the Premier League square up in a match which could decide the games most important trophy – 4th place.

While the previous paragraph was meant in jest, sadly it is probably quite close to the truth. The bottom line is we are sitting in 6th and 7th respectively in the Premier League table, and both teams have been performing well below par this season.

So how will this clash go?

If it was at Old Trafford then I would say we were nailed on to lose. That’s how confident I am with Arsenal, and in particular their defence (or lack thereof). We have been a shambles this season, only with Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez as the bright sparks of this season.

At The Emirates however, we have bit more hope. We lead Manchester City 2-1 until they scored a late equaliser, and the performance that day was pretty good. But we no longer have Mathieu Debuchy or Laurent Koscienly in our back line and Arsene is trying his best to f*ck that up as much as possible. Calum Chambers must surely play in the middle with Per Mertesacker, and Hector Bellerin should slot in on the right.

Welbeck and Sanchez will cause United problems with their own make-shift defence but only if they get the required service. That means we need to also sort out our midfield which has been pretty poor this season. Not including Tomas Rosicky at all is mind-baffling and Santi Cazorla has clearly been over-played and needs a rest. If I could choose the midfield, I’d go with The Ox on the left, Jack and Rambo in the middle and then give Theo his first start on the right. He’s chomping at the bit to start a game this season and he is player who can excite the crowd and get people on their feet. The boost he could give the team and the fans could be the different on the day.

With both teams having shaky defences, I can either see it being a goal fest or a dull game where both teams focus too much on defending.

Both teams have a lot of attacking talent on show however so even though both teams will look to sure up the defence I can still see a goal or two being scored.

My final prediction?

I’m going for a 1-1 draw.

Once one team score they will sit deep and try and defend the slender lead, but eventually the other team will get through and then both sides will settle for a moral-boosting draw.

Neither team will want to lose, and a 1-1 draw is a good compromise.

If you’ve missed it, we teamed up with YeeHD to make a video on FIFA 15 between Arsenal versus Manchester United, in a fun “prediction” game to see who would win. If you want to see what happened, you can watch below:

The Line-Up Arsene Wenger MUST Use Against Manchester United

Over the last few weeks Arsenal have been a complete shambles defensively. Against Anderlecht, we unbelievably threw away a 3-0 lead (something no English team has done in 101 games where a team has been 3-0 up) and then against Swansea, we let a 1 goal lead slip away and managed to lose the game 2-1.

In terms of defending, our team is all over the place.

Nacho Monreal just isn’t cutting it in the middle. It’s sad really because the bottom line is he is not a central defender and it’s completely unfair for Arsene Wenger to ask him to play there – and the ridiculous thing is that Arsene already has a player who likes playing in that position – Calum Chambers. But Arsene is adamant on playing the young Englishman on the right, which also comes with its own problems. The end result is a massively disjointed back four which is leaking goals at an alarming rate.

So that’s why Calum Chambers should partner Per Mertesacker in the middle and Hector Bellerin should play on the right.

In midfield, we have another strange scenario. While it seems we have an embarrassment of riches, we can’t put out a midfield that competes any more.

When fully fit, we have the choice from the following; Flamini, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Rosicky, Podolski, Walcott, Gnabry and Diaby. Even with 3 or 4 injured, we should be able to field a competent midfield.

Tomas Rosicky cannot get a look in, despite being one of our best performers which is completely baffling to me. Lukas Podolski is another player that has been frozen out which again is crazy because he’s a player who can do a job for us – which he showed in his brief cameo against Anderlecht where he scored the vital winner.

What we have is a situation where we over play certain players (Cazorla, Ramsey and Wilshere in particular) and end up having a disjointed midfield who don’t play as a team and can’t collectively defend.

The only bright sparks of our season are the two new boys, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez. Welbeck is a player who never gives up and is improving all the time, and a player who can score goals for us. Alexis Sanchez is a revelation and one of the best signings we’ve made in a long, long time. His passion and desire are phenomenal, as are his work-rate and ability to make things happen – a rest of the team could learn from his influence.

And the sad thing is, we should be lauding Sanchez as the player who is taking us to the next level – but the sad fact is we’re sitting 6th in the Premier League table. Without Alexis Sanchez in the team, I have no idea where we would be right now.

We certainly wouldn’t be higher than 6th in the table and we would probably be struggling to progress from our Champions League group.

So after taking everything into account, this is the line-up Arsene Wenger must use against Manchester United (unless he wants another embarrassing display):

What happens in the game may or may not be a surprise!

Here’s How We’ve Predicted The Arsenal v Manchester United Result!

I thought it would be fun to make a run through of the upcoming Arsenal v Manchester United game using my predicted line-ups, formations and tactics using the popular football game FIFA 15. Obviously I have no idea how to do that but thanks to YouTube channel YeeHD, we have made a video which showcases the main highlights of the game, and it provides a fun “prediction” of what could happen on the day.

The guys at YeeHD asked me for the predicted team selections and for Manchester United I looked at previous line-ups from their last few games. I know David De Gea had an injury scare while away with Spain but I was sure he’d be back for Saturday’s game. Smalling is back from suspension so would naturally replace McNair and with Manchester United still missing Phil Jones I’ve put Smalling in at central defence. Louis Van Gaal has used Antonio Valencia quite a few times on the right side of defence and with his pace he is a solid performer there.

In midfield, it’s a similar story to Manchester United’s previous games with Marouane Felliani starting in the middle with Wayne Rooney just ahead of him, supporting Robin van Persie. Michael Carrick is back in contention after getting over his latest injury (and performing well against Manchester City) so I’ve included him – as he will also give their back four some protection. Angel Di Maria will start as usual on the left, and I’ve replaced Adnan Januzaj with Juan Mata as the Spaniard is a big game player and someone who has scored against Arsenal in the past.

For Arsenal, I am hoping that Arsene Wenger has learnt some lessons in regards to the previous few weeks and put Calum Chambers in central defence. With Nacho Monreal on the bench, it gives Hector Bellerin a chance to show how good he is on the right. I’ve included Theo Walcott for his first start of the season, because he will give the club an added bit of impetus and hopefully give Manchester United something to worry about. I’ve taken out Santi Cazorla who has been off form of late, and included Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for his pace and endeavour.

Sanchez and Welbeck obviously start for Arsenal upfront.

So below is the final “prediction” video for the Arsenal v Manchester United game, with all the key moments, goals and final score!
