Are You Happy With Arsenal’s Transfer Dealings So Far?

The transfer window has well and truly been opened with a lot of big money signings moving to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Monaco, Juventus and several other big European clubs. Unfortunately, things aren’t going so well at Arsenal.

To date, we’ve confirmed the exciting signing of an out-of-contract young Frenchman by the name of Yaya Sanogo. The 20 year old used to play for Auxerre, until his contract ran out on the 30th June, and that’s when we snapped him up.

He joins an illustrious list of inspired Arsene signings from the French league, including Marouane Chamakh, Gervinho, Park Chu-Young and Olivier Giroud.

So a signing worth getting excited over.

I jest, but hopefully (that should be in capitals really) that may just be the start of some big summer signings.

Unfortunately, we have had a bid publicly turned down for Lars Bender. We reportedly bid somewhere in the region of £18.5 million but that was rejected. Are we going in with another bid? Who knows. But missing out on him wouldn’t be a surprise.

Despite Higuain’s dog declaring he was coming to Arsenal, all talk of the Argentine striker joining us has stalled.

The ridiculous Wayne Rooney rumours have also died down, giving way to some other equally preposterous links. We’ve now been linked with Manchester City’s Gareth Barry, although it’s “reported” we wouldn’t pay him the £100,000 a week he’s on at the Etihad. So not really a story then is it?

Also, Nicklas Bendtner looks like he is following Djourou and moving to Germany. So that’s nice I suppose.

Are we destined for a long and agonising summer where we are just constantly being linked to a host of “world class” players we don’t have a chance in hell of signing?

Who knows…

  1. Totally unsatissfied so far, we don’t need the likes of Barry, Williams, Torres which may again put us again in to the past heart breaking years. I think it is time for wenger to make a radical change and we need trophies, otherwise I think it is the exact time to go for him. There is no room for more complacense after now.

    • Totally agree with you. Mind you, I think the links with Torres are probably transfer vapour trail. Bender, Ganalons, Cesar and Huguain are the best links so far, maybe Granier too. Roonie??! Just a lot of expected hype, I say.

  2. I must admit, I am getting a little frustrated by it all now. Wenger really does need to bring some top quality in sooner rather than later. I will be more than a little annoyed if the Higuain deal falls through because we were not willing to pay an extra 3 – 4 million for a proven goal scorer. Bender is another that should be offered more, in fact, I would go as far to say ‘give the german side a blank cheque’ and let them decide. That would be a little more decisive than leaving it to Arsenal Football Club.

  3. ARSENAL MUST SIGN GONZALO H,BECAUSE THEY WONT FIND A BETTER STRIKER LIKE,THEY MUST PAY THE ASKING PRICE TO REAL MADRID PLZ,WE ARE TIRED OF UNKNOWN PLAYERS NW WE NEED QUALITY SO WERNGER MUST STOP BEING GREEDY AND BRING GONZALO TO ARSENAL.

  4. As for me I don’t really happy with the way Arsene Wenger and his board members dealing with the signing of players. They should stop deceiving us

  5. I am one of the hundreds of supporters left angry at the inactivity of Arsenal football club with regards to signings. All the ballyhoo about the money our club is supposed to have available and the quality of player we are supposed to be seeking is just another sop to keep us quiet until the window closes. No wonder players are holding out to see if other clubs come in for them, we now just a laughing stock. Sack Wenger and the person above him just to show the club mean business

    • Agree! Its funny how they are struggling to sell tickets to the emirates cup and all of a sudden….. We are linked to every top player going, we have £70m to spend. As soon as they have sold out of emirates cup tickets we will sign the usual crap players for over inflated prices.

  6. I think it is very frustrating for everyone!! Especially since all the talk for the past months on “Wenger has millions to spend……” and all we hear is speculation and no action.

Personally it is frustrating and hard to understand how other clubs can do business easily and efficiently!! Look at what the Spud’s have just signed!!

In saying that Wenger does have an eye for great talent and I am convinced he will bring in experience and quality.

We just need to be patient!!! Yip, it is hard but that is the way it goes!!

  7. Chill out mate.
First we needed to get rid of the deadwood which has started well. Negotiations will be in place without naming targets where possible so as to prevent the top teams as well as the lillyscum driving prices up or indeed buying players for their bench.

  8. Errrrm… People it’s only 3rd July. The transfer window only opened just over 2 days ago. And it also seems that we’re doing business to get rid of a lot of players that people are moaning about that are still on our books.
Obviously I’d rather everyone was signed on 1st July, but that really is totally unreasonable.
We’re being linked with a lot of good players and look like we are going to spend some proper money this year, so everyone really should take some solace from that.
Everyone just chill out and lets see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

  9. pliz wenger & the CEO IVAN plus the Board we are tired of your mind games on singing big names players .go gets for Felliani, Higuain ,ceser, Rooney or Jovetic to partner Higuain & buy hundred of France playes just to fullfil your dreams.

  10. In terms of getting rid of the ‘dead-wood’, I would say yes.

In terms of the ‘quality’ new signings, definitely NO!

    • How exactly can you be an “Arsenal fan 4 life” when you refer to our most successful manager of all time as a scumbag. Grow up.

  11. I think we are falling into a familiar setting once again of this long drawing out transfer market of hope and let down of missing out on class players because of an extra million or two, I feel if we had of produced are first singing as Higuain or Fellaini or Bender, Rooney there would have been a very clear intent of what are purpose was for this transfer window, instead of singing another prospect in the model of leg brake Yaya Sanago.

This is not to say the player doesn’t deserve a chance due to his injury, when you ignore a position like we have for a long period of time like defensive midfeild and put it not top of are requirements its show a lack of understanding of the errors in the past.

You look at United for example when the like a player they will pay for the player 30 million many many times. Arsenal seem to get lost in this bidding process bidding 21 million for Higuain when real want 25 or so. This 4 million or maybe a little meet in the middle like 23 or so could be the difference in a feel good factor the same to for Fellaini.

We have seen many players know that Arsenal has showed interest in now Mata, Hazard Dzeko all go to other teams due to the fact we were 2 to 5 million out imagine if Henry situation was the same instead of 10 million juve wanted 12 or 15 were would we be.

Defensive midfeild should be are goal identify a player and purchase him get people talking instead them talking oh Arsenal have 70 million all summer long. I believe it would be like a domino effect if we were to purchase a talent knowing to the world and soon enough you would have players that we are bidding for like Bender speaking asking for a move a signal of intent is better that a hope thought.

I believe we need 4 players in which are of world class proven quality to make a stance in the League. I love Arsenal way in producing these player at times you need to by the also.

Arsenal put a statement out there we have money to spend we will invest but I feel we should said nothing nothing and as soon as july the first came we had one or 2 players in.

I’m getting tired of missing out! I will always look to Arsen But and I say But get the American out out and are chief bring in Dein and the Russian. Give Wenger back his bishop in David and put a stop to this miss hitting of rays of talent.

Its to long for us Fans its to long for our manager and our players that do have some Arsenal in there vains!!

  12. Yeah, a lot of frustration with the fans at the moment, that’s for sure. The key is getting one of these big signings completed, sooner rather than later. Once we get one, it will show the other big targets that we are a club of ‘our word’ and will send home a powerful message. Chances are, if we manage to get Huguain, the other big ones could well follow. The challenge is getting the first big one in, and if a matter of £4 million is the delay on the Higuain deal, then we should just bite the bullet and go in at £25 Million. Assuming this is true.

  13. I think wenger is nt sure who ‘ll b comin 2 arsenal, higuane, rooney, jovetic, torres, bender, felliani, barry, habba! Wenger we fans know u cnt sine modan 1 quality player, so y presenting us wt imaginary signing? Sanogo, our 1st signing. Hw unserous r we? Sanogo 2 beta, v.p, cavani, suarez, aguero, benteke? If u dnt wanna sign gud & qaulity players, stop foolin urself nd ur web of fans. Nxt season i’l pay my hard earned naira 2 come nd watch ramsey, gervinho nd co wen i hv beta players in my street 2 thrill me? A begi

  14. to me am not happy with the way arsenal is doing transfars!am soo waried of Gonzalo’s deal!this bord must bolished away!they ara doing nothing to improve the sqoud!we arsenal fans will prostet in the steets when wenger and his bord feails to sighn Gonzalo!

  15. Totally fed up with the way Arsenal do business, we have got to spend some money & get some top names.
Fellaini would be my priority as he is exactly what Arsenal have needed for years & Higuain would be well worth breaking the bank for.
Even on the rare occasions when we do actually sign a player it is a long drawn out affair, we are the only club that seem to fart ass about & take so long in capturing a player.
I wouldn’t mind Williams or better still Micah Richards as well because I think some British backbone would help.
We should have got Fellaini by now but as us fans are treated with content & left clutching at straws, I wish the whole Arsenal board could be replaced, they are an absolute joke & do not seem to want to take Arsenal forward.

  16. Am totally not happy,,uptil no big deal is completed. Let’s mek it one afta d oda,,,we always c arsenal linked with new payers every Minute

  17. Protest is needed but I don’t believe against Wenger he is intelligent enough to see that the world of football has change he has said it many times money resources.

I do feel Wenger would love to buy a Bale Cavaini the thing is he has not got the funds what goes with a 50 million transfer is the wages for the player and other fees i understand Arsen maybe doing a little maths at the moment if i can squeeze 21 for this player instead of 25 i would have 4 for the next player and if i bid 8 for him instead of 15 i would have 7 for the next.

Whatever way its working its clear Wenger has to spend that money as productive as he can which show the board even with 70 million aren’t really given him that much room were not living in the 90’s were 10mil or 15 was a big one 10 to 15 is small now days and with small less quality unless there is a player running out of contract.

Im nottttttt happy David Dein and the Russian in clear a bit of death and invest a serious amount of money

  18. “Are You Happy With Arsenal’s Transfer Dealings So Far?”

Are you for real? You, me and the media have no idea what “transfer dealings” Arsenal have been going on behind closed doors. It’s a complete farce to pretend there’s anything to talk about. As for saying that talk around the Higuain transfer has stalled………..get a grip. Do you expect Arsenal to be sending out press releases about what they are negotiating?

You do Arsenal Football Club a complete disservice by peddling this amateurish, ill thought out, irrational nonsense. I really do hope you’re not ‘Arsenal 4 Life’ because we really need proper supporters, not people who are going to blindly slag off the club without the tiniest shred of evidence.

      • No. I am just not a mindless sheep and have a brain of my own. Shouldn’t you be getting ready for school?

    • I’m assuming you’re not one of those Arsenal fans that actually goes to games and has spent money on the highest ticket prices in the country for the last 8 trophy-less seasons?

          • I do go to games! I’m not a season ticket holder, but I go to as many as I’m able to. And the reason I go to games is because I support the club. I support the club when we lose and when we win.
I’m not going to roll out the old excuse of the new stadium costs blah blah blah, but it is true. And now we have some money to spend everyone on here is getting pissed off that we haven’t spent it after 3 days of the transfer window opening up. Can you all not see how ridiculous you’re being?
When something happens (and it will) we’ll know about it.
I’ve been just as frustrated as the next person over the last few seasons with our lack of activity, but this season is different. Even if it’s not then that’s something we’ll find out towards the end of August and then we can all be pissed off, but not on 3rd July!!!

          • @ Wenger’s Immortals

Not only do I go to games, I had my first season ticket in 1968 (which was a time when fans had good reason to moan). I still have a season ticket and travel some 200 miles to every home game. I’m not sure that makes my opinion any more valid than anyone else’s but I think it answers your very poor attempt to discredit my opinion.

  19. Mike you must really love the way our club is preforming show a bit of progression passions instead of putting up with our board whom i believe are all about squeezing the life out of our club fans and manager

    • We’re the fourth richest club in England, way behind the other three. I would prefer to win every match but it’s realistic to expect those other three clubs to have better chance than us. I do not think everything is rosy but I will not mindlessly slag off the club or Wenger when I don’t have enough knowledge on which to base an educated opnion.

  20. For those of you that say the transfer window has only just opened are at best naive at worse just dillusional.

The Premier League clubs have already brought in over 50 players combined. So is it just Arsenal that are bound by July 1st? I don’t think so.

Agreements could have been put in place weeks ago. I don’t buy any of this crap that Real Madrid needed to appoint a manager or Juventus needed to end their interest in Higuain. If we were actually going to but him it would have been done ages ago. But the fact is stingy Arsenal are haggling over the price. What a joke.

There’s no team like Arsenal when it comes to f*cking up transfer deals. Juan Mata anyone? And how about Gary Cahill? You couldn’t make this stuff up.

  21. This is the latest, quoted by Sports Direct:

Gonzalo Higuain’s long-awaited move from Real Madrid to Arsenal isn’t likely to happen until later next week.

Speculation has been raging that the £25 million striker is set for an Emirates medical later this week before being unveiled as the club’s marquee signing of the summer.

But Higuain is holidaying in Maimi this week and is due back from the USA at the weekend.

A source close to the player told SportsDirect News exclsuively: “The deal remains on line to be done – there’s no problems but the two sides are working with a two week window.”

Wenger is hoping to get that deal done as quickly as possible in order to concentrate on bringing Wayne Rooney to the club.

He is armed with a £70 million war chest and is also looking to bring in two defenders before the season opens.

    • Keith I here yeah but this deal should have been done before July 1 instead of falling into this will it or wont happen trap agian if that deal delays then other key 1’s might nothing sure about it leaves other potential singings unsure to what there going to

      • But you have no idea what has been happening behind the scenes so it’s complete speculation that it should or could have been done before now

  22. somebody said yesterday dat hurriedly mean bad buy but patiencely mean gd buy .and tell leverkusen that da 70m is not meant 4 bender only, 18.5m is not little money.guys let’s be patience at list.

  23. wenger must no be penny wise and pound foolish

    what is 21m to 25m … nothing… buy higuin..buy rooney buy jovetic

let him look at brazil and spain and look at boas oay pay pay

his youth policy has not worked.. no trophies

tevez deal went through in days.. why is the boss delaying deals and cannot do the same .. arsenal can make up the difference easily…pay pay pay

dont buy a player that never wanted to come to arsenal ..like micah
do buy barry ..no good enough???/ look at his man city and england pergformance

  24. Of course I am not happy show me one true arsenal fan that is.
Nothing but lies…. it just goes to show you that the owners of arsenal are more interested in filling their pockets rather than the empty trophie cabinets.
I just wonder exactly how much money they are spending on creating these hyped up transfer rumours.
A player like higuain is worth more then £25mil but arsenal are trying to get him for £20mil.
They will end up losing out to Napoli if cavani is sold soon.

  25. Am real dispoint wth arsenal tansfer so far i do what am here to read everyday rumor which news is confarm news?

  26. Wenger will continue fulling himself wit stories while other pple do d signings;;;i dnt belief in stories,nt untill he finally drops frm d champions leaque spot he wouldnt stop fulling himself.if u see a coach dts serious u will knw..

  27. It’s still far to early to worry.
I may start to be unhappy in the middle of July but hopefully all involved in these transfers will have woken up and done the deals by then.
If it wasn’t for the importance of pre-season training, I wouldn’t worry until the start of the first PL game.

  28. Hi everybody arsenal board or wenger think we are fools and don’t have any feeling what so ever ! Previous signings like bendtner, chamack, gervihino, arshavin, etc now what ? I Sanogo watched yesterday vs Turkey wasted 3 clear chances ! we want at least 3 of these Rooney, Fellaini ,Higuain, El Shaarawy and Cavani otherwise we won’t pay for ticket because we can’t watch same old shit plus Barry and Sanogo.

  29. I have heard a few people saying “we dont have backing of Chelsea or Man city”. What they are forgetting is that we do have the backing! Alisher Usmanov is the ritchest man in britain. He can blow Abramovich and all his yatchs out of the water!! But the out of date board refuse to let him have a say, even though he owns around 30% of shares!! It begs the question of why are the current board at Arsenal? Quite simple. We are a cash cow for them. None of them care about Arsenal or us – the fans! The way I see it is this, Usmanov is an Arsenal fan and wants David Dein back in the club. Then you have silent stan, clearly not a fan. His appearances at games are as rare as rocking horse shit! So if they want to do the right thing by Arsenal then sell up to Usmanov!!

    • I guess you’re a new supporter without any inderstanding of how the club has always worked. Also you clearly think FFP will fail.

        • No im not new! Been a gooner since 93. First game v swindon in april 94 in a 1-1 draw with smith scoring. I was a regular at Highbury after that. So dont start assuming im a new fan just because i want usmanov in!! When ffp comes in, it could mean no champions league football for real madrid, ac milan, chelsea, man city, psg. Cant see platini sticking to it as the champions league would be a poorer competion.

          • OK, you’re a relatively new supporter.
You don’t really remember the days when we weren’t suicidal when we finished the season in mid table (provided we beat the scum) and 5th/6th wasn’t a bad year.
Bearing in mind that UEFA will love to stuff an EPL team, we’re much wiser to keep clean on the FFP side until it’s actually proven to fail rather than in the hope of it failing. FYI Real Mad and AC are pretty safe on the FFP front. Even the Chavs should be OK unless the septic one goes on a shopping spree.
