Arsenal’s “Transfer Dealings” Compared to The Rest of The Premier League

There have been a multitude of excuses to why Arsenal have yet to make a purchase this summer. I was going to say “significant purchase” but considering we haven’t even made an insignificant purchase yet then there seems little point.

Excuses include that the transfer window wasn’t officially open yet, Real Madrid were yet to appoint a manager, that players were on holiday… the list of why Arsenal are incapable of buying anyone is endless.

So I thought it would be interesting to see how the other Premier League clubs have fared. After all, they will surely have the same problems as us in the transfer market and therefore they won’t have made any purchases yet will they?

So (if my maths hasn’t failed me, and it may have, then) in total there have been 37 official signings made by Premier League clubs. Only 6 teams have yet to make any signings, and of those 6, one is undergoing a managerial change (Everton) and another has Joe Kinnear involved.

So what’s going on with Arsenal? Are they ready to surprise everyone with massive signings this week now the “window” is open?

Or is this going to be a long, tedious and agonising summer for Arsenal fans?

  1. Nice piece of analysis. Whilst we probably should wait a few weeks to judge, it is frustrating that we seem perpetually incapable of getting new players in early so that the coaching staff have a full pre-season to prepare them. One of the main reasons we gooners are jumpy at this time of year is that we’ve been let down badly in summers past. Let’s hope for a change of approach this year, no more last day supermarket sweep, and no more excuses!

  2. Since Dein left and the 2 well known tight wads W & G were put in charge, we haven’t signed anyone you could call a Diamond.

You would not walk into a RR showroom see a mota with a 100 grand sale sign on it, and offer to buy it for 50G

The old addage of peanuts and monkeys apply to W & G

  3. it looks disappointing but we will see!! for sure I dont thing that we are making all these popular signings (rowney, fellainy), but we will do something to ensure the 4th place next year

  4. What about Sanongo? Is he not worth a mention? I pray that one day, this spite will be shamed when he finally comes good for us.

  5. We have completed a signing!!! Its sanogo from auxerre!! Fantastic news, thats going to scare the shit out of the mancs and chelsea!!!!!
