Chelsea Spurn Arsenal & Spurs for Ba and Agree Terms With Other Premier League Club

Sky Sports News have reported just now that Chelsea have confirmed that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur made enquiries for striker Demba Ba, but they have rejected both London clubs and accepted an offer from another unnamed Premier League club.

But Ba’s representatives did say that his preference was to play in the Champions League.

So what does this mean? Should Arsenal look elsewhere? Are Chelsea concerned about the threat from Arsenal in the Premier League and are they reluctant to strengthen another Premier League rival?

More to follow.

Oh Arsene, You Massive Tease! So Who Else Will We Buy Now?

Yesterday I talked about how Arsene came out after the North London Derby and how he said he “might have a good surprise for us” in terms of signings. And he didn’t disappoint, with the £42.4 million signing of German international Mesut Özil (subject to a medical).

As you can see from this video, this guy is the assist master and his statistics are frightening!

In the meantime, we’ve also been linked with Chelsea Demba Ba, who is out-of-favour with Jose Mourinho. The 28 year old striker is seen as good backup for the in-form Olivier Giroud, and could give us a different option up front. Reportedly, we are looking at for a season long loan deal and Chelsea are asking for £3 million, while we’re currently offering £1.5 million. According to Sky Sports, Napoli and Valencia are also interested, so watch this space.

We’ve also been linked with Fiorentina (on loan from Palermo) goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano, who is also apparently Manuel Almunia’s twin brother. Let’s just hope the similarity ends at physical looks and he doesn’t make mistakes like Almunia. The latest is that we’re going to sign him for £1 million on a season long loan, with an option for a permanent deal at the end of the season.

As for other rumours, The Mail have us linked to PSG striker Javier Pastore, but I can’t see that happening. The Telegraph think we could get Özil’s Real Madrid teammate Angel Di Maria and Palermo striker Abel Hernandez.

So who else do you think we will buy before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm tonight?

At Last A Purchase! Arsenal Agree £42.4 Million Deal for Mesut Ozil!

BBC Sport reports that Arsenal have agreed at £42.4 million fee (50 million euros) for German international Mesut Ozil.

And their sources say that Ozil is undergoing a medial in Germany as he is currently away on international duty.

So what do you think of this signing?

Personally, I think it is a massive signing. As we proved yesterday, we have a very good starting eleven, but to really kick on and go up that extra level, we need world class reinforcements. And Mesut Ozil is world class.

Statistically, the man is scary. In 3 seasons with the club, he has racked up an amazing 74 assists. That is just crazy. And I don’t care what your opinion is of him, that will make Arsenal a bigger force than they are now.

If you weren’t excited enough about his arrival, then watch this:

One thing I will say from watching this video is that I bet Cristiano Ronaldo will be sorry Ozil is leaving.

They say patience is a virtue and that certainly applies to Arsenal fans. The early signs are extremely encouraging but we still need to make some more signings to strengthen the squad if we want to be considered as true title challengers.

Is Mesut Özil Coming to Arsenal? Or Will United Swoop In?

Sky Sports News have reported that Arsenal are “in advanced talks” with Real Madrid to sign German international Mesut Özil.

According to Guillem Balague, Real Madrid and Arsenal have reached a deal for Özil for 45 million euros, pending an agreement with the player who apparently, it desperate to leave the club.

I have no idea how much he is on but I would be certain that for any deal to happen we’d have to beat – or at least match – his current wage. I would assume he is on a big wage at Madrid (since they don’t seem to have any financial culpability) so it will interesting to see how this develops.

The signs are positive but lets not forget that we’ve been here before. We were well in for Gonzalo Higuain and look what happened there. And of course, there’s nothing stopping another club coming in for him, a la Higuain.

The deal does “make sense” in terms of Bale signing for £85.3 million and the theory that Özil’s chances may be restricted with the Welshman’s arrival. Also, there’s an idea that Madrid will want to get back some of the money they’ve spent on Bale.

Daniel Levy has delayed the Bale deal for weeks and weeks, as it was thought Arsenal were going to pick up a couple of Real Madrid players once that deal was completed – and Levy didn’t want Arsenal to strengthen as we are perceived to be their biggest challengers for 4th position in the league.

Another positive is that Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker could influence the German’s decision by saying how much they love it at The Emirates. There are reports the Manchester United might hijack the deal with Kagawa apparently going to PSG. So we’ll have to wait and see.

The next 24 hours are going to be absolutely mental for Arsenal rumours on new signings – even more so than the last 3 months – so I would say brace yourself and wait for Arsenal to confirm any new signings before getting too excited!

Arsene Wenger: “Maybe We Have A Good Surprise For You”

In the post match interview with Sky Sports, Arsene Wenger was asked what will we see in the last 24 hours of the transfer window. His response was:

“You will see what we will announce if we sign someone, we promise that we will very quick to announce it.

“Maybe we have a good surprise for you.”

And he that statement with a smirk.

Now I know we’ve only brought in Mathieu Flamini and Yaya Sanogo on a free during the transfer window and I am being extremely naive (hey, I have to be being an Arsenal fan) but if you read in-between the lines, maybe they already have a deal sorted out for a couple of players and are ready to announce it tomorrow.

Of course, maybe he’s teasing us all (like he has been all summer) but for the next 24 hours, I will be clinging onto that tiny bit of hope that we will make a signing.

So what do you think will happen tomorrow?
