Arsenal Win & Chelsea Lose? Yep, That’s Right…

Arsenal Win At The Emirates!

A good night all round for Arsenal in Europe and in The Premiership.

The Gunners beat Dynamo Zagreb 2-1 last night and won the tie 5-1 on aggregate – although it was Dynamo who took the lead through de Silva on 12 minutes.

Arsenal are going to take a few games to settle at their new home and we haven’t lost there yet which is the most important thing.

It was an average performance from Arsenal and nothing more really. Robin Van Persie in particular stood out as he displayed his impressive skills and a brilliant pirouette on 26 minutes created a chance from an acute angle which was saved by Dynamo keeper Carlos Santos de Jesus (what a name!).

And only a minute earlier van Persie was denied a goal when his shot was amazingly deflected by Cvitanovic onto the bar and over the goal! Crazy stuff!

But with 13 minutes remaining, Freddie latched onto a Van Persie freekick to head Arsenal the equaliser. And then on 90, Mathieu Flamini who looked like a left back playing in central midfield, grabbed the winner to give Arsenal their first competitive win at the Emirates.

I didn’t know any of The Premiership scores until I watched Match of the Day last night – and was I shocked!

Chelski were winning 1-0 with only 10 minutes to go when Boro came back and scored a couple of goals to give the Russians their first defeat of the season.

Alan Hansen made a good point about how Chelski looked particularly vulnerable from crosses as that’s how Boro managed to scored their goals. Chelski would probably look more solid with William Gallas instead of Ricardo Carvalho at the back wouldn’t they?

Apparently Jose Mourinho was absolutely livid last night. Good news all round then!

Manchester United looked impressive yet again with an easy 3-0 win over Charlton. From the highlights Scott Carson made some good saves and United hit the woodwork at least 5 times so the scoreline could have been much worst for the home team.

Hopefully The Premiership race will be a bit closer this season!

The Good, The Bad & The Ashley Cole…

I F*cking Love It When Gilberto Scores!

It’s been a few days since our Premiership opener against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium and while most Gooners (including myself) predicted an easy 3-0 win, Martin O’Neill had other ideas and played how most teams play against Arsenal – very defensive and very compact.

I’m not going to complain because if there is a system you can use to get a result then you have to do it. It’s up to us to come up with a way around it.

To be fair, Arsenal had enough clear chances to win comfortabl but unfortunately most of the chances seemed to fall to Eboue instead of any one of our attacking players! C’est la vie…

But the highlight of the game was the introduction of Theo Walcott after 73 minutes.

He looked like a brilliant player and according to Myles never lost the ball! Amazing!

And it was his cross that gave Gilberto the opening to smash in an emphatic equaliser!

One of my favourite sights is Gilberto scoring a goal. Remember when he scored against FC Thun in the Champions League last season?

Just like on Saturday, he went totally berserk!

It’s just a massive release and I love seeing it! It shows he cares, it shows he wants to win and it’s just how the other 60,000 Gooners are feeling inside the stadium!

Off the pitch however, it’s the same old story with Cashley Cole and no-one is any the wiser on what the hell is going on. I bet I’ve just given it the kiss of death now and he’s probably just joined Chelski as soon as you’ve read this.

Wenger has told Reyes to forget the Real Madrid move as it isn’t going to happen. I said a while ago that I couldn’t really see it happening, but then Wenger could be just playing hardball.

Then the William Gallas story. It’s clear we’ve made a bid for the versatile defender and at 29 I’d say he’s worth no more than £5/6 million. But there are rumours that Chelski want to swap him for Ashley Cole!

I’m not even going to dignify that rumour with a response…

Ashley Cole Is Pathetic & Should Shut The F*ck Up!

Ashley Cole has released a statement saying he’s made himself available for the Aston Villa game tomorrow.

He is quoted as saying:

I have made myself available for selection this weekend and it is now up to the manager whether he decides to play me.”

Fantastic.

In a pathetic attempt to drum up more publicity for himself he has now apparently said he’s willing to play for Arsenal.

My arse he does!

But Arsene Wenger wants you out of the club so you can take a running jump!

Like the fans, Arsene wants this horrible circus of negativity to end as soon as possible.

Could you even imagine Cashley Cole wearing both an Arsenla and Chelski shirt in the same season?!

I’m certain that’s not going to happen but nothing in football surprises me anymore…

Winning Is Everything: The Curse Of Success…

Is Winning A Curse?

Last night I dug out an Arsenal DVD and watched with immense pleasure – it was a nostalgic experience. Winning the league at White Hart Lane, going through a Premiership season unbeaten and witnessing some of the best football I have ever seen.

But this of course was only 2 years ago.

As I watched the title celebrations we would see Vieira, Campbell, Bergkamp, Pires, Cole, Reyes, Parlour, Kanu and the other players who have left (and will soon depart) and you can see that as long as your winning there are no problems.

When things are great, everything is perfect.

But unless you can keep up this level of success then you will find cracks appearing. How the hell can you top an unbeaten Premiership season?

And it only took one season of not winning the league for the real personalities of our players to come through.

Cole went and talked to Chelski, Vieira ‘didn’t feel loved anymore’, Reyes got hoaxed by a Spanish Radio Station and Pires wanted a two-year deal but didn’t get one.

Even Henry needed a season to decide whether his future was with Arsenal.

But now Arsene has assembled a new squad with young, hungry players that have something to prove and will want to build on the success in the Champions League.

Cesc looks like he has improved on last season, Hleb & Adebayor will be better for having a season under their belts, Rosicky will add to our team and Titi will have a clearer mind now he has committed his future with Arsenal.

Manchester United have suffered after their success in the 90’s and Liverpool finally look like top-level contenders after dominating the 80’s. Chelski are having the best of it at the moment but let’s hope that Arsenal don’t wait ten years before getting back on top!

I wonder if Chelsea will see any cracks appearing this season…

Henry Loves Arsenal, Ade Hates Reyes, Jens Rants…

No Regrets…

Thierry Henry has spoken out and said he is happy with his decision to stay at Arsenal and to lead the team into a new era at the Emirates.

He also said that although Chelski are linked to huge amounts of money, they have won back to back titles because they are a good team.

Well it depends on what you call a good team. The Chelski fans obviously don’t think so because they have tickets on General Sale for their first home game and first game of their title defence against Manchester City!

If they don’t want to watch them why does anyone else!

And Adebayor has hit out at Reyes telling him “We don’t want you anyway”.

And he also pointed out that Henry is a perfect example of how to deal with interest from other clubs like Real Madrid and AC Milan – that we should just say no.

Jens Lehmann has been quoted as saying that Chelsea are not a big club, and that only Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are.

Well Crazy Jens might have a point with the fact Chelsea can’t even sellout a 43,000 seater stadium when they’re Champions!
